My name is Rory (He/Him) and I grew up on a farm in Limpopo South Africa.
After finishing high school I moved to the big city and attended university at AFDA film school where I got a BA in screen acting. I had heard about TTRPGs online and spent many hours considering ideas, coming up with character concepts, and fantasizing about a game of my own. I finally took the leap into actually PLAYING the game after listening to the Adventure Zone podcast which made TTRPG's feel accessible and fun to learn as you play. In many ways I have continued to take that inspiration to create narratively rich, character focused games with action that serves the story rather than the other way around. I continue to enjoy playing in SEVERAL games as both GM and player. As well as continuing to listen to my favorite actual-plays. Outside of TTRPGs, I'm an avid fan of video games and game design in general. I like to draw and play music from time to time as well. In addition I derive a lot of joy from my day job as a drama teacher working with kids from all walks of life to learn all the different ways they can express themselves.
I focus on character-focused stories that bend the rules when it best suits the narrative. Generally, I prefer to lean into the impromptu nature of the hobby and the fun therein, rather than adhering to a strict interpretating of any given rule set.
